For those who might be interested Les was selling 3 different 8x10inch fine prints for $25 each. His aim was to give us something to compare our prints to in the darkroom. I know often I am not quite sure I am seeing my print properly. I'll now have two of Les' amazing prints tacked on my darkroom wall to compare my own work. I'm sorry I do not have more details but you can PM Les or maybe he will find this thread and post details and take a few orders. I'm glad Les decided to do such a thing, it will be a tremendous help to me.. (and no I am not getting a kickback for this)

Sounds a great idea. If Les has got any left over, I'd love to buy some.

Cheers

Yes I bought one as well, the one with the trees. I am probably going to frame it, as letting a print of that quality get damaged would be a sin.

They are great work. If you have his book, one is "Trees in winter, Belford", page 121.
I can’t find a link to the other two. One is a white door in a white wall with many over lapping boards with vertical planks, many textures and tones, with a black angled railing. Another is a Jaguar door handle with reflections and rain drops. Les also is offering a larger portfolio of other B&W photos at $750 US. All work to the very best level that he has shown us.

I'd love to have them too, but I sent Les a pm on 4/23 and he still hasn't read it. so you might have to wait a while.

I also, was fortunate enough to be able to obtain one of these prints...they are all incredible...Fred Picker used to do this years ago and they were near a hundred bucks or so....

Les is taking a bit of a rest with a school buddy (I think) but I am sure he will be up for air soon...these prints are wonderful and are certainly an inspiration to better one's printing and vision...

Great conference! Great people! Great Classes!

but those prints were Godawful. I know because I fell for it. I certainly hope Les's are better than the Picker reference prints.

I too fell for it. While Fred produced some great prints, those he choose for "example" prints were quite poor. I have a couple of Les's prints (regular ones, not "example" prints). They are outstanding.

I choose the Jaguar Door print which has so much more detail than the workshop test prints Les created. Every time I look at it I will remember the split-grade printing workshop and what a quality print should look like.

I can guarnantee without hesitation that any print... ANY print Les offers for sale is going to be beautiful. He is just not the type of person to offer up a print that did not meet his exacting personal standards.

Les... when you see this, put the "example" prints in the online gallery so that more than just the lucky insiders who took your workshop at the conference can buy them.

I believe you. Too many photographers I like admire his work for that not to be true.

Dear Les... please remember to bring some prints to your darkroom workshop in Texas at the end of this month, I especially love, love, love the waterfall print, it was tremendous to view it in person! Blessings, Krystyna

Lisa and I were supposed to get a new bed when we returned to NZ from our trip, and ummm.. well... Les just HAD to show me that portfolio of his and it was all over. Luckily I have the coolest wife ever and she says "That's ok, we'll just sleep on the old bed a little longer" and she can't wait to see the portfolio when Les sends it in July. I sure love this woman!

And well you should Sean

Lucky enough to have a wonderfull wife as well, one that allows me more 'photo' time than she probably should, and is also my hardest critic...she keeps me working harder.

I had the privilege of taking Les' Street Photography workshop last weekend, and had a great time. Definitely a learning experience. Also picked up one of his sample prints (the white door). Yesterday I ordered his book, so I guess you could say he made an impression. I hope to cross paths with him again one day.
