I saw the obit in yesterday's NY Times and just kind of figured someone would post here - guess everyone else was also waiting for someone else to do it!

I learned yesterday of Leonard's death, it was very sad news for me. I met and worked with him for the first time several years ago and his advice and help when we were photographing in the streets has been invaluable to me. Apart from being a great photographer Leonard was an excellent leader of workshops and a very kind and gentle man. I will miss him.
