Hello

Wasn't sure where this question fits so starting here.

I have an old Tewe Berlin Votar 800mm super telephoto lens. It's a mammoth of a lens. I am trying to adapt it to my Nikon Z and not exactly sure where to start. I have no idea what the thickness of the adapter needs to be to ensure infinity focus but I can eventually figure that out by stacking adapters.

But for starters, is anyone aware of old school lenses that came with 65mm (diameter) threads?

Many thanks.

About the 800mm lens. You would need to know what is the current lens mount on the lens. Maybe show a picture?

But for starters, is anyone aware of old school lenses that came with 65mm (diameter) threads?

Can you be more specific? 65mm threads that mate to the camera body? 65mm filter threads? What pitch? I'm aware of some Leica microscope with 65x1.5mm threads. I've adapted many lenses to a M65x1 helicoid but those require three parts: 1) lens to M65; 2) M65 helicoid; 3) M65 to camera.

Hello

I attempted attaching the pic yesterday but ran into file size issues. Anyway...I cropped it down and it works. See attached.

I have not measured the pitch, but will do so today.

I found a M65 to Nikon Z adapter which seems like a good start. I can at least use that to see how much additional spacing I need to get to infinity focus.

Yes....it's definitely not accurate down to the mm but rough measurement is 65mm.
You would need to measure it accurately before buying an adapter. By eye this seem finer pitched than 1mm. Almost all the adapters you'll find are for 65x1mm. But it could be imperial as well, who knows.

In all likelihood this lens was made to fit a variety of camera systems. It may be the case that current threaded mount can be removed and replaced with another adapter (e.g T-mount).

I found something on fleabay...it's another Tewe Lens (its an Omnitar) and I think my lens has the exact same mount.

I don't know what the threads are but pretty sure that I need to track down whatever this adapter is but for a Nikon F.

I was thinking the same thing, but the correct focal distance would still need to be determined. Just slapping on a T-mount would not set it at the correct T-mount distance.

I think that's correct.

OP, if you can't find the specific adapter, there are ways to estimate the required adapter length.

I am about to get my hands on a Birns and Sawyer adapter.....which should fit. I have now corroborated with multiple sources that the camera is mounted as shown in my attached pics.
