too many pages for me to look through to see if stuff is sivlerized or not.
i think general consensus is as long as you wear lead undergarments you can
put in your pocket .. i have heard that radioactive glass lenses hav a lot of hype surrounding them
whether or not theyare dangerous or do photo alchemy ( turn bad photos into good ) is still up for debate
you might look for leica glass >zukio mount i hear at least leica lenses make a rainy day sunny ..

either way have fun with your new lens !

Cellphone transmissions are a form of electromagnetic radiation which is non-ionizing : the only certain effect is heating of tissue (exactly like a microwave oven). However, the emission of particles from radioactive elements is ionizing radiation. Very different, as it can affect molecules in your body.

Even so, the world would be a better place with less cellphone activity.

Maybe. People like to be connected, even if they are blindsided by the fact that humans evolved to communicate effectively and efficiently face to face, not with a glass screen! Poor communication skills today, especially among young people, can be traced to their obsession with mobiles and derangement of their capacity to interact personally.
When I signed up for a mobile phone in April of 1993, there were only 7,300 mobiles in use in Australia, although growing slowly, month-on-month. Today, there are 19.4 million (!) with a population that has just touched 25 million. The obsession is truly nauseating.

Even heating of a tissue can affect the molecules. You gave the evidence yourself: microwave oven.
Furthermore there are other effects thinkable of than heat induced. That is why there had been studies on other effects electromagnetic radiation.

That's true, but as was mentioned, that is a different discussion because there still has not been a consensus on the effects (*) even after 25+ years of cellphones. However, the effects of ionizing radiation are certain - though that from a lens is of the least concern.

(*) some effects I have observed due to cellphone emissions:

- standing stationary in public places for minutes while other people have to walk around the victim

- victim's inability to communicate verbally to friends across a table

- victim fails to proceed when traffic light becomes green

- victim speaks loudly and obnoxiously to the device when in inappropriate social situations

The Sun will be around for a few more years yet...
Besides which, you are getting radiation from the sun, in summer especially, in the forum of damage from UV(B) rays ===> skin cancer.
You are extremely unlikely to get any form of cancer from lenses with radioactive elements.

you forgot ...
victim needs to have carpal tunnel surgery for texting too much

victim needs to be on anti psych medications ( which may or may not have contraindications ) for not having his or her texts immediacy returned
supplying him or her with a dopamine rush

victim has a hunch back and bad posture form texting + dialing his or her phone incessantly

victim requires orthopedic surgery to have either prosthetic thumbs implanted because CT surgery didn't fix problem
or his/her big toes installed on hands to replace thumbs and then prosthetic big toes installed to help restore balance ...

personally, i'd go with the lens over the phone ... now if it was a cellphone with a radioactive lens and radioactive lcd screen that would be a no brainer..

Even though the geiger-counter may go haywire, it doesn't say anything about radiation-type or energy-levels.
Also, they usually only show "CPM" count per minute, which doesn't say much at all, it just sound cool, so that certain internet vloggers can create a lot of 'whoha' and scare the crap out of people, like this fool:

You are right and radiation hygiene is a very tricky subject, but nevertheless the difference against the "normal" radiation level may frighten people.

I find it sad that we got here some postings that ridicule frightened people.

It depends on how you look at it.

You can look at frightened people in two ways; Those that are afraid because they are ignorant and those that are afraid because they are informed.

I don't think the Frenchman is making fun of frightened people, it's satire over said video of "Geiger-counter" hysteria videos and comments from people too lazy to look up the truth.

Perhaps....

If the French guy can't post satire without people bending over backwards from feeling hurt, I suppose the only proper response would be #violatedandtriggered2018.

I wonder if that is likely to occur before or after the complete demise of (a) Fuji film (b) all film (c) an agreed conclusion to the debate on the minimum amount of Xtol needed to develop a film properly.

Does anyone here remember the actions of your pals in the 1960s when you told a very poor joke and they all pointed the faces of their luminous watches at a certain part of your body in retaliation. I take it there was no truth in the rumour about the terrible after-effects of this callous action by pals.

I say that as I haven't seen a thread on this on Photrio over 50+ years later. Having been treated frequently then to such despicable action by so-called pals, am I now safe?

My daughter is studying electrical engineering at MS&T in Rolla Missouri. Whenever my wife and I visit her, we have to be very careful driving on Campus. The students cross streets right in front of you without taking their eyes away from their cell phones. You would think that engineering students would be smarter than that. We call them cell phone zombies!

I have seen people in their cars, stopped in the middle of the road for over five minutes, while texting on their cellphone. I am seeing behaviour today that would be inconceivable 25 years ago.

I won't even go into detail about people getting their information and making decisions based on Twitter, Facebook, Netflix, and other instantaneous "news" sources.

Perhaps we have created a level of technology, in many things, that we cannot handle as a species and it will become our doom.
