hello all

i recently purchase a Caltar -S II 210mm lens from keh. I received it in the mail today and began to examine it and noticed something peculiar. I removed both elements from the shutter and placed them on top of my Macbook, which is white. By chance, I noticed that looking through them to the macbook case that the front element is pure white and the rear element has a yellow tint. I immediately took apart my only other lens, a schneider 90mm super angulon, and found it to be free of this strangeness. What's going on here? I'm assuming that this will give any color shot a slight yellow tint as well. has anyone else noticed this? maybe a coating thing?Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

Start with I doubt the computer is perfectly white even if it looks it. I'm guessing it's the coating. What happens when you use both together? Remember also colour printers correct negative film. The world often isn't exactly the colour it looks to our eyes. The brain corrects on the fly.

If you're worried take a shot of slide film and see.
