That’s what started me thinking...Couldn't the sun shining through the pinhole, projected at at a wall of the camera, produce flare if it's reflected inside the camera? Especially if the interior isn't well blackened? Of course the bit of concurrent flashing could be just what's needed, especially with paper negatives...
That is a good point I didn't consider.
