Lens hood fundamentals and a recommendation

Speaking of lens hoods, I once rented a Hasselblad 500cm and 80mm lens for a couple of weeks. I'm certain the Hasselblad had a lovely rectangular hood (or, shade) and I have a hazy but happy memory of said hood having a little illustration on it - either the U.S. flag or else the NASA logo, some kind of tip of the cap to Hassy on The Moon. Or did I only dream this up?! Am I all alone here?!

The $60 price for the Voigtlander LH-58s lens hood really shocked me.

I complained when I had to spend $26 for new lens hood for my Mamiya medium format TLR 55mm wide-angle lens and $25 for the rare Canon lens hood #5 for my Canon QL rangefinder.
