Hi all,

I’ve played around with this lens today and pretty love it. I’ve read that it’s prone to flare which I don’t mind but in certain situations would like to have a hood on it. As it’s kinda wide I’m wondering if vignetting would be a problem with a ‘normal’ 77mm hood and if yes which hood you’d recommend instead?

Laci, with Flektogon 2.8/20mm and it's 67mm thread I had hard time finding yellow filter that does not vignette. On the end I had to strip off the front filter threads to avoid vignetting and make filter as thin as possible. 4/20mm is new to me and I did not play with filters or hoods on it.
I doubt it's possible to find proper hood that works for either lens? Please let me know if you find any?

For very wide angle lenses one need thin filters to avoid vignetting. Look up the manufacture's lens specification and that may specify the lens hood.

I use the same 77mm filters (polarizer and ND) I used with the Pentax 6x7 lenses. As I sold the 6x7 equipment I kept the filters because of this lens. The first roll I shoot with this lens is still in the camera so I don’t know if vignetting will be significant for me and bother or not. Usually I don’t mind these kinda things.
It’s interesting though that even a filter can cause vignetting I never thought about this. I get back to you about the outcome as soon as I developed the neg.
