Lens Filter for Folding Camera

I've got a couple of ASNCO/AGFA folding cameras. They take series 5 or series V filters. I'd like to buy a couple, I've found them on eBay. But it seems no one knows how to attach them to the camera. Some sources say there is a drop in attachment, and others say they are push on. My guess is that they are push on because I can't find an attachable holder for the filters.

Even the camera manuals do not say how the filters attach. I think the presumption at the time the manuals were printed, is that I would go to the camera store and they would show me when I bought filters from them. Of course that isn't possible now.

Please, would someone say for me and for posterity, how these filters attach?

You will need the push on adapter/filter holder for these. Measure the outside diameter of the lens and that is the size adapter you will need. This one for sale on eBay shows 2 filters, the adapter and the holding ring. You push the adapter onto your lens and then drop the filter into it. Then you screw on the holding ring.

... Or even better, screw on a lens hood that both holds the filter in place and shades it.

Sorry you are not pleased with my searching abilities. When I said I could not find the info, did you think I was walking the streets stopping people and asking them? Wait, that's just like your response. BTW I've been there. I don't have a clack. But I do have a clue. Hope things go better for you.

Don't take things so personally and be so ungrateful. Say thank you and enjoy what you learn. Clack or not, that's what you need and how series adapters work.

All of the "Series" filters I have seen have a ring that screws or pushes on the lens, which then has a space for glass filters and a threaded ring that locks the filter in. Kind of cumbersome. For my Diana and Hawkeye, I found the correct push-on, and then found a step-up ring that was close to the correct thread (series filters have oddball threads). I sort of forced the step ring into the threads with some loctite, so I have a push-on filter that takes 52mm standard screw-on filters and hoods. Since 52's are easy to find (even used there are good deals on really nice glass) it's been a good workaround.

AFAIK the post-war Agfa folders and their Ansco clones should accept simple push on filters in metric sizes, which can be easily found and are convenient to use.

I've 3 Ikonta folders. I managed to find a 42mm no name yellow push on filter for my Super Ikonta C. I took a chance on a 35.5mm filter holder for my 521 and my 6x6 Mess Ikonta, hoping to pick up some filter glass later. It screws onto the 'invisible' thread that looks like a non threaded knurl on the outside of the lens.

As luck would have it, the 42mm yellow push on fits onto the 35.5mm filter holder. So I can use the same yellow filter on all 3 cameras, even though they are 3 different formats.
