Hi, I'm new to photography and I bought a Canon AE-1. The lens on the camera has a small spot ( about the size of a grain of rice) in the outer coating. It seems like the coating is missing from this small area. Will this make any impact on my images (B&W and colour). Thanks in advance for any answers/advice.

I honestly do not even examine my used lens purchases very closely. I assume because they are used (and often old) they will have wear.
What matters is how the photos come out.
That won't have any effect on anything. Fog, fungus, element separation, coating deterioration or haze are what will cause loss of image quality. Fortunately for you, the only FD lenses I'm aware of that have any of those issues is the 85 1.8 for some reason. A lot of them on ebay have fungus or haze it seems.
