lens boards for 138s durst

i just picked up a durst138s with tons of lens boards and stuff and find i have no idea what some of this stuff is used for .I also didnt get a lens board that will fit my 150 APO lens (55)mm)so anyone have one they will part with let me know. it has a 3 lens turret but came with 2 lare boxes that are 4-5 inches deed with lens holes i read that some 138s you can remove the turret others not , how do you tell ? where can i find info on camtubs labtubs ect.

See page 6, this gives only a little info, but it may just be the essential info you're looking for.

For the 150, you're essentially looking for a Durst Lapla board with the correct diameter & pitch hole in the center, which obviously depends on the lens. I had a friend of mine machine one for my old Componons (with the fine European thread); for the newer Nikor 75 I use a slightly recessed lens board I nicked from my Durst M605 which also fits the 138 turret.

Without a picture I'm only guessing, but to allow the Tripla to rotate, some lenses need to be mounted with an extended plate to clear the rear element. Depending on your minimum bellows draw, short focal length lenses may need to be mounted on a recessed board with the Tripla fixed in position.
If your enlarger did not come with the Durst branded lenses, you will have to figure out how to mount them with some experimentation.

The removable version has a 1 inch knurled grey knob in front to screw loose; similar in concept to the separate lens mount retaining screws.
PS love the coffee cup top version of the Tripla in post 4

thank you for the info. mine doesnt have that knob so no go there .. but can the turret still be removed and replaced with a regular lens board holder by removing the 4 screws ?

I'm not sure what you would gain by removing the Tripla. What did you have in mind?

I looked at my fixed unit again and there is a set screw in the front that if removed might just let the tripla drop out and be replaced with a Vapla or Unipla. Then you would have to get the very large Vapla board and adjust the mounting hole to suit or get a new bespoke board machined or get a Unipla to fit the smaller Lapla's.
I am not sure of the point.

Looks like the circular lensboards are variations of the "Lapla" that should fit in the turret.
I don't know the use for the long cylindrical ones. The enlarger's bellows should be enough extension for lenses up to 300mm, so I don't know why anyone would need an extra extension.

Likewise, I don't understand the square lensboard extension or where they would even fit on the enlarger. As you know to make big enlargements the lens gets CLOSER to the negative. So I don't know the purpose of any extended lensboards on that enlarger.

So, the uncommon or NON DURST items in the picture would be those circled. Maybe some closeups of those.

The look like items from an OMEGA E (5x7) which used square extension lensboards.

thanks IC i will take closer pictures of the items in question the hole pattern matches the screw positions in the plate holding the turrett in it looks like . anyhow a mystery to solve.

With the bellows all compressed you can't focus a 50mm for any appreciable print sizes. Even with a 75mm you need a recessed lens board. Note that the turret won't rotate with these installed.

Definitely LATUB's - and a 50mm on the turret, even in a LATUB can be a bit of a war with the springiness of the bellows - unless you really need the 50, I'd do everything possible to avoid going under 80mm on the 138 if it's the version with the built-in lens turret

ok the parts i now dont know why they are with the enlarger if the turret is not removalabe are two camtubs and the two flat boards of the same size.

Unipla boards are getting scarce and typically now have to be custom made. But there's no need for one of those unless you are attempting to use an exceptionally large diameter lens too big for any of the Lapla rings and regular Tripla turret. Short lenses like a 50mm are accommodated within one of those extended boards installed upwards inside the bellows, but require a supplementary aperture adjustment ring with a control lever extending below. Those are relatively common.
