The V35 may be the best 35mm enlarger on the planet. This example is in superb condition with the original lens and carrier. Color head so you can make black and white, variable contrast or color prints. It is the latest version with the easily found 13139 bulb. The values on these have started to soar again buts let's offer it for an APUG friendly price of $350. Pickup only within some reasonable distance of the Boston area. We can work out transport once we know where you are coming from. Enjoy!!

Hi Jon, I am interested in the enlarger. I will PM you shortly.

This is a very reasonable price for this enlarger. I've owned my V35 for about 20 years (paid quite a bit more for mine!) and absolutely LOVE it for 35mm work. Somebody grab this quick!

Kind regards,
Alan

I am trying.

I am just getting back into film photography and I found this group a few weeks ago. I missed out on the Durst with whole darkroom offered a week or so ago because I flinched, so I sent a PM to Jon immediately.
I have film processing ability, but not paper processing because I used to do mostly color slides. I used to attend local colleges photo classes just to be able to use their dark rooms, but now I have the space and $ to be able to set up my own darkroom!

Hi Jon,
You mention "easily found 13139 bulb"..... I have a V35 but I've been searching a lot to buy this lamp and have not been able to find it. I recently bought a few Osram lamps that are said to be a good alternative but I was really disappointed.... at 10x enlargement at F/5.6 these give a typical 300 sec exposure time, while my Focomat 1c gives 60 sec at F/8. Do you have any recommendation where to buy to buy the original lamp or a really good alternative? I would love the V35 if it provided more light, but for now I stick to my Focomat 1c or 2c.

Hello CCLA,

That bulb will probably work, but if you want/need shorter exposure times and/or anticipate making large(ish) prints--say, anything 8x12 up to 16x20--you might wish to consider the EFN bulb. Of course, this bulb will have a shorter lifespan because it's brighter, but something to think about. Scroll about halfway down that page you linked to and you'll see a link for "EFN". Check it out.

Good luck!

Sorry to bust in, but if anyone is hoping to use this unit for bw I have a spare multigrade head too. Pm me

I have used the EFN version of this bulb and it works very well. I bought some to try, seeing as Im down to 5 original bulbs and was happy. the time difference, FOR ME, between the Philips EFN 13139 and this one is only a few seconds. average time for a 11x14 is around 15 seconds.

All Bedlam, or Parnassus, is let out!

Thanks for dropping a bomb on the listing. Your comment implies that the color head cannot be used for black and white printing, which is nonsense. The color head will happily print black and white. Also, I had been planning to include it as a happy surprise for the buyer, but now that you have poisoned the well I will publicly let APUGers know that this outfit also includes a dedicated Leitz Variocontrast module in its original box. No charge for the VC module; it's just a bonus.

You'll definitely need the EFN bulb. I have the Osram EFN bulb that is supposed to be a proper replacement for the Philips 13139, but in reality it produces lees than half the light, resulting in these awerfully long exposure times. Following the EFN link on that page I see several EFN bulbs, but not the original Philips 13139, only the Philips 6853. I don't know whether that would be the right replacement.
So my question is: is there any place we can still buy the original Philips 13139, or a bulb that we know for sure is a proper replacement?

Is that the Philips 6853 EFN bulb that you're using? 15 secs for an 11x14 print is really good! Much better than I get with the Osram EFN bulb.

Wow...based on all this discussion regarding replacement bulbs, I'm glad I have a couple of extra bulbs that came with my enlarger purchase a long time ago!
