I'm looking for a Leitz IIC enlarger and the orange/red safety lens and the lens assembly -- for my late model gray IIc. Does anyone know of a possible source?

Thanks, Joe

I do not know of any "red safety lens" at the IIC, nor at any other enlarger.
Do you mean the swing-in red filter under the lens?

If I understand you right you need that 2 assemblies (red swing-in filter assembly, filter drawer) missing at the grey IIC sample you already got plus you are looking for a second IIC enlarger?

Welcome to Apug!

(It took me ten minutes to get so far to assume the above...)

The filter tray is almost impossible to find as a single piece. Kienzle makes them and they're worth the money.

Keep an eye out on Ebay for the red filter . . . and do a wanted classified here . . . and check if Kienzle has an original one. They probably make one too.

Btw, if you're using an easel and the filter tray there's really no need for a red filter ! I haven't used one for about 40 years . . . that's longer than AGX's 10 minutes

Thank you for the quick reply and the welcome! My apologies for not being very specific -- I'm not looking for a second IIc, just some parts.

First the red filter -- yep, I meant the red swing in filter. The IIc's appear to have at least two ways in which the red filter can be mounted. For mine, at least (which I think is one of the later models), the red filter fits to a 90 deg tab on a small, slotted slide on the right side of the housing. The slide itself is attached to the enlarger via a knurled knob thumbscrew. Such a thing is easiest enough to fabricate, I suppose, but I ran up on this extensive forum and thought I'd see if anyone had some leads, perhaps to an inoperative unit being parted out. The actual red filter seems easy enough to find on eBay.

With the filter drawer, I could forgo the red swing-in filter, I suppose. My unit has the stock "spacer" in that filter drawer slot. So, it would be nice to find one of these as well. I do have an email out to Kienzle. (Thanks for the lead, Hilo.)

I feel pretty lucky putting my hands on a fairly pristine unit with the 60mm and 100mm lenses, masks, etc. With these two items, I'll have a fairly complete package.

I have a IIc red filter without screw that you're welcome to . . . I would just need the shipping cost from The Netherlands. Almost 20 euros.

The screw by the way, it is the same screw used for the Valoy II red filter. Their brackets are different, the screw is the same.

This means you should just get a nice Valoy II, hèhèhè

Hilo, what would be the best way to get the shipping costs to you?

By writing me a privat message and we'll sort it out. But give it a little time, perhaps there's someone near you who has it too. The one I have won't go anywhere - I will keep it for you . . .

In the mean time I will bring the screw that I have for the Valoy II to a shop here, to see if they have this metric screw in the right size and length . . .

The screw is a standard size 4mm metric and are pretty common. The link below may have the 4mm thumb screw.
The original is a fine thread not 1mm pitch. If you can live without the larger head, I can send you one with proper
thread and length. It's brass colored and has a phillips head. Cover the postage & I'll put in a
bubble pack envelope & send it along.

Thanks !

It's 4mm X12mm. If you can live with a simple phillips head I'd be happy to send you one one for postage.
Should be less than a buck in a bubble pack envelope.

Thank you John, that is kind !

I did some checking and find them here in The Netherlands too. It will be very easy to find something. I often modify metal under the lens filter holders to use with the Valoy II. For that I use the red filter bracket of the Valoy II and remove the red filter. Missing the original screw happens and now I see the solution is so simple. As I said before the Valoy II screw is identical to the IIc screw.
