Recently acquired a Focomat 1c from someone who didn't have space for it. It came to me for free by the glory of the printing spirits, I suppose. Trouble is, the power cord on the thing is something I've never seen before.

Its got three angled prongs. What sort of hoops do I have to jump through to power this? And there's another power cord, too. Coming from the base of it. Its a normal US plug, though. The enlarger is residing at a different location so I can't do any proper investigating at the moment.

The cord and the plug in the picture will run from the top of the lamp head into the top of the column. The cord coming from the base will plug into a timer. You have nothing to worry about.

I never saw this plug. But it got a conformation sign for german electrical standard.

But if one searches for mains plugs one will find some types one never ever has seen...

While looking up 1c, I saw someone describe a similar looking plug as older German mains plug.

Yes, this is the plug that came with the early version of the 1C, that had the round enlarger head (without the filter tray). Obviously the socket in the column receives this plug.

It looks similar to the 220V plugs we use here in Canada for electric stoves and clothes dryers.

But I expect that it is smaller than those heavy duty plugs.
