My Leica X 113 likely stands out as the top choice among digital cameras on the market.

It boasts improved specifications compared to the X1 and X2 models, with a larger body reminiscent of the X-Vario, giving it a Q-like appearance without the cumbersome X-Vario lens. While its pre-owned price slightly surpasses that of the X2, it remains significantly lower than the Q1-3 models. The black color option exudes a sophisticated aesthetic. Additionally, it offers the option to add a viewfinder if desired. The rear screen is relatively up-to-date, surpassing the X1 and X2, though it lacks the advanced folding mechanism seen in the Q3. What's not to love?

Plus, it bears the esteemed Leica brand.

Could it have made any better? Yes, co-branded with Hasselblad of course.

Today, I have finally found out how to set the camera to monochrome - it was hidden deep down in the menus, not where you would expect it.

As incredible (or stupid?) as it sounds - it is is a totally different - better? - camera now. Before, I did not really know what to do with it; it felt almost like a toy and the colour rendering was so-so, whereas the new SL impressed with warm vintage hues (I kept on waxing lyrically about the rendering of my old R lenses...until I discovered that the camera's white balance setting was way off). I also had put a red rope strap on the X113 and colour seemed to irritate me subconsciously. Exchanged it with a black one, removed the stupid handle, removed the OVF, and now it is a Bauhousey as it could be.

Coming from a X1 which really felt like made by Mattel ("Your first camera") I thought that beefing up the 113's body could make it somehow "better" but it jut created visual and sensual clutter.

Irrational? Certainly.
The thoughts of an amateur? 100%!

Totally! I think Leica "works" best when doing its minimalistic "thing". My SL feels like a full-english-breakfast-turned -camera with extra donuts.

The viewfinder issue made me trade it for a different model in the end. The X113 was a halfway house, for me, IMHO, my 2ct.
