Dear all,

I got an old Leica Summaron, which has these goggles so it can be used on an M3.
When focused to something close, e.g. close than 2m, I noticed that the image of the
rangefinder patch is a hair shifted towards the bottom. Basically, if I focus on a close
subject the two images in the rangefinder will be aligned perfectly horizontally but not
vertically.
Is this behaviour normal? I could see that it is, since the goggles give an significant
'extension' to the rangefinder windows, which may cause the slight misalignment when
focussed close. However, I searched the web for quite sometime and couldn't confirm
this. Does anybody have another goggled Leica lens and could tell me?

Thanks a lot

Try the moon if it is out on the same sense you need to have them adjusted.
But a good knock will un adjust them.

it happens, it's nothing to worry about as long as the infinity focus is correct and the horizontal allignment is correct, since that's the one that shows focus.

What is happening, i suspect, is that a close distances the angles are a little more acute in the camera's optical system to match up perfectly after going through the lens' optical system.

So don't sweat it, be of good cheer, take pictures.
