I have nothing against SLR's, but the OP was comparing it as a step up from rangefinders.

Well, not so - I wrote "After using Leica rangefinders for a number of years, it seemed time to step into the 'R' SLR world." Each system has advantages and disadvantages and I do not consider either to be particularly superior - I will use my M7, MP & R5 with equal pleasure!

Apologies, I misinterpreted your OP.

I've used and owned an R7 in the past. Good camera, but nothing special. Similar to an F3, but with a higher viewfinder mag. Not bashing Leica, my favorite camera is a Leicaflex SL. The lenses you have -- 35mm and 60mm Elmarits -- are excellent. Very bulletproof.

I sometimes miss my R6.2. But I since I am not part of an agency sending me around the globe to cover various events, I figured I had no real need for it. And I'm too busy brassing my Leicas.

Every minute spent with another camera is a minute less of brassing on my Leicas.
