I own a Leica SL 601 and use a Novoflex adapter to mount my old R lenses. I'm curious about how focal lengths translate on this setup. Specifically, does a lens maintain its 1:1 focal length equivalency on the SL? I'm noticing that my 50mm Summicron feels more like a mild telephoto, and my 28mm seems to give a perspective similar to a 50mm lens. Can anyone shed light on why this might be the case?

The Novoflex adapter is a posh piece of plastic, no lenses inside.

It's a full frame camera. The lenses should give the same angle of view as they would on 35mm.

From the specs (I have never handled one), the EVF on the camera has a somewhat lower magnification (0.8x) than many 35mm SLRs and you might be responding to that - it doesn't change the actual field of view but it changes the feel when looking through the finder.

Higher magnification, as the view through the EVF feels cramped.

Tonight i have compared a 28mm R lens on the SL and on the R6.2.

On the R6, it gives that wide-angle-y, distorted, nauseatic feeling with walls bending and expanding. On the SL, it feels like a 50mm.

And i just did an A/B test, cat in the window, same lens on R and SL body, R has the wide angle view, SL is like a tele.

So there is a crop happening, how/why? And how do I get rid of it?

?????

I'm not familiar with your Leica SL, but is there a chance you have it set in APS-C mode, so effectively only the center part of the sensor is being used? That would yield the same field of view as a 45mm lens or so.

I did a hard reset and formatted everything and all. Now its fine, and, yes, I found the 35mm/APS-C mode selector, and it was most probably "it",thanks.

Life is now worth living again, especially when looking at the R6.2 debacle.
