I am the proud owner of a black / nickel Leica II with slow speeds, complete with a 1933 nickel Elmar 3.5.
Is there such a thing as nickel lens caps for the Elmar or were they all the standard chrome / grey?
Thanks in advance.
Hmm, I've been reading up on this and you seem to be correct. I'm not sure about the black caps though, even if they exist, they must cost a premium.
I have a standard grey cap now, it seems to fit but not super tight, if I were to shake my camera while holding it in my hand, the cap would surely fall off.
Thanks anyway, the search continues.
So they do exist! Were can I get a black one? Or even a nickel one?
Directly from the Leica museum is my guess, it will also most likely cost and arm and a leg.
Where did you get yours?
Hey, no problem. I found black ones now but they seem to be much newer, I found them on the bay, but I didn't find nickel ones.
Doesn't matter, I use the grey one I have and that's an end of it. I wouldn't use any cap but I don't want to scratch the front element.
I've seen a lot of scratched Industar-22s on Zorkis, they usually come without caps.
I have by far not seen as many Elmars as I have seen Industars so my experience in that direction is limited.
