I just purchased the Leica Mini 3 on ebay, mint condition, original box, for $150. Does anyone here use that camera or has used it? Anything special I should know about it? How good are the photos it takes? I just bought as a camera to bring everywhere, I currently bring my AE-1 everywhere but a point and shoot would be much more convenient to carry around than the AE-1 or my SQ-A. I figured it's Leica so I shouldn't be disappointed, but if anyone has any info on it, links, personal experience, etc. please post here I'm having trouble finding much info on it.

Hello ,

I have Leica Mini Zoom with Vario Elmar 35-70 , I bought it from B&H for 60 dollars and best 60 dollars I have ever used.
You have Summar , better than mine and it is one of the best 35mm cameras. It is amazing. You did the best you could.
Buy film , good , classic film and shoot like an crazy. Welcome in Leica Owners World.

Hi,

welcome to APUG .
About Leica mini - best thing is to try is yourself. I had newer version - Leica minilux, and that was a great camera.
If you will not be satisfied with Leica mini - get yourself olympus XA or XA2 - they are great cameras to bring everywhere, and with superb optics.

regards,

Thanks for the welcome! I always come on the site through Google searches on random camera related things and I figured I might as well finally join the site lol.

Best choice for every question you have about analog photography .

Back to Leica mini (and minilux) - lens is great for sure, only problem that some were complaining is autofocus and some other stuff like flash ... (that is why I recommended XA/XA2 - they are manual focus "bring everywhere" cameras).

You did the best Darko, congrulations , I swiched to FED1 and 1 week processing time will kill all the excitement here , tomorrow is the big day , I will get the scans 17mb each tiff. I found a resolution chart at the internet free and there is a architecture school here and around lots of printers. I will order the laser printout , take records for each aperture and than MTF test the scans. I dont know where printing , scanning would carry me but this is the only way.
I will open a new thread to discuss all.

I've had one for years but haven't used it a lot.... It's always done everything expected of it and I've gotten to realize that the 400 & 800 emulsions seem to made for this sort of camera (better shutter speeds and use of the small flash). I can't recall ever having anything beyond 5X7 from it and it is just fine to that point. I've had it in my pocket during hunting seasons and foliage and surrounding detail held up well for that type of snapshot duty and now that I think back about it, I'm usually surprised at how well the pictures turn out for exposure and detail.
