Hello everyone!

I recently purchased a Leica M6 TTL and, coming from an aperture priority camera, I am still learning to use the camera properly. The camera is in excellent condition, except for a few dark patches on the viewfinder patch and frame lines as can be seen in the attached images. These are clearest on the bottom left inner frame line, the bottom left outer frame line and the edges of the viewfinder patch.

Does anybody have experience with this issue or any knowledge of how to get rid of these dark patches? Thank you!

Can you push with hand frame selector left/right with a little bigger force, and check again, it could be that it is not 100% in place with the lens mounted?

You did cleaned all 3 windows (1 from both side)?

Thank you for your suggestion. I have cycled through all the frame lines, and not only does the problem reappear when I get to 35mm but the dark edges on the patch remain whatever frame lines I select. I have cleaned the windows from the outside, though I am unsure how to do so from the inside.

You can have it cleaned (pricy) or live with it. Sure doesn't affect the image.

I had Don Goldberg get rid of all the frame lines longer than a 50mm in my M6 since I see almost no point in using a lens longer than a 50mm with a Leica RF.

Using a lens that is 75mm or longer, a good SLR eats a Leica’s lunch in terms of usability and creative output.
