I know someone selling the above camera, and not being remotely familiar with it, how much is a fair price? How do I tell if the meter is working? The shutter seems to work at all speeds.
M4 does not have a meter. The M5, M6, M7, and MP have a meter, the M2, M3, M4, M4-2, and M4-P do not have meters.
Rangefinder accuracy is a big issue, most used Leicas I have seen have RFs in need of adjustment. If its all in good condition, M4 bodies seem to go for about $900 and the 35 Summicron IV about $2000

M4. I had a m4 for yrs. it really feels like a proper camera. And arguably the best ever M leica. big drawback it has no meter built in.so you will need to carry a hand held one . But it's a grt toy!
I'd wait until you had a fault rather then CLA routinely.
