Sadly no. I was gifted a canon 50 1.2 ltm and when I tried it with the m3 focusing it was a breeze, did not realize that viewfinder magnification will make a big difference. As far as my research goes I don't think they have the same viewfinder.
 
If you're looking for M3's on eBay or at KEH as well, consider that you can pay less for those without a self-timer or frame-preview lever -- unless, of course, you want those features.

Double-stroke M3's tend to sell for less than single-stroke. I have both types and find double-stroking more "natural" - I even double-stroke my single-stroke M3.
 
+1 for the M2... 35 framelines are great, and the 50 lines are roomy. the M3 could be better if you're only using a 50 though. in my opinion the feel of the M2 is extremely similar to the M3, though some say the M3 is more solid.
 
When new, the M2 was the budget model designed for working press. Both M2 and M3 are solidly built cameras. M6 contains plastic parts that do fail on occasion. Also, I am not a fan of diods disappearing in bright light. I have M3, M4 and M5 models. These were made by Leitz, later cameras made by various owners marketing to upscale market, such as Hermès (once an owner). You won’t regret buying an M3.
 
Yeah I think M3 is it for me. Mainly will be used for 50mm and maybe 90mm. All else goes to M4-P.
 
Dood wants an M3. Why are people telling him to get something else?

When the M3 first came out, Leica considered the double-stroke "more natural" also but it was different so rather than give DS a try, the buying "public" demanded a "single stroke" and that is what they got. If this had not happened, people in this and other groups would still be complaining about the "awkard" double stroke M3 Leica........Regards!

Double stroke means you must stroke the wind lever twice, advancing the film, and the shutter cocks at the end of the second stroke. Single stroke allows you to wind and cock the shutter in one complete, longer, motion.

M3 on the left is a double-stroke; the one on the right is a single and is newer. The newer one also has depth-of-field notches in the rangefinder patch - another Leica subtlety.



 
The double stroke M3 could be converted to single stroke at one time, mine;s double stroke and I never found this to be an issue as it's so quick anyway.
