Thinning out my Leica collection. I just have too many cameras, including a good collection of Leica's I don't use much these days. Leica M3 Black Painted with a recent DAG CLA. The camera is working great with a clean and clear viewfinder. Some very slight brassing starting to show. $1350 includes shipping to the US with fees included.

How is this an M3 without having a self timer? Was it somehow modified?

(Not suggesting anything evil is afoot, I'm just curious.)

Chuck, it's easy enough to remove during the repaint/ re-skin process....

If I'm not mistaken, it also appears to have been retrofitted with the quick load system.

aesthetics ?

Really simple. It’s what the owner wants. About 10 years ago i had a long talk with Don about putting a M3 top on a M7 body. It was doable but in the end I decided not to. I had the a spare M3 top and bottom set in new condition but didnt want to use my current M7.

I think it’s a pretty good price to go with the don cla. Don overhauled my m2 for $500 so its not cheap at all. Anyway if you want to trade for said m2 let me know 😁

I recall reading in a 1976 article in Pop Photo that Ralph Gibson had his M3's self timer removed. Perhaps for better handling ?
