I read an M2 instruction manual and it left me with the vague impression that you can set shutter speeds in between full stops. Can anyone confirm or deny this? I asked at RFF and got one answer-- "maybe but probably not with the older Ms." So I thought I'd put the question to APUG too.
Thanks,
James

Blackmelas,
Yes you can set between speeds on the older M cameras and in fact most of the older cameras with a horizontal travel focal plane shutter.
Strictly by guess & by golly as far as accuracy.

I guess you can set times between 1/60 and 1/1000 but not the others, between 1/60 and 1/30 you have 1/50 sync and starting with 1/30 you have the mechanics for long time which work only in steps. Maybe I can find the source I got this info from. Personally I stick with the times and change the aperture between the clicks.

That's about what I gleaned from the manual when I had the chance to breeze through one. Your statement is more clear however. If you do find the reference please post it.
Thanks to you and shaggy for your help,
James
