Leica lllB question

Greetings! New to the forum and very glad to be here!
I do mostly digital photography but have always had a love for vintage equipment. I recently came across a Leica lllB in very nice condition. The only thing is that it had a Geiss sync mod done to it. Researching this modification it seems there are no internal changes done but just a piece put into the hot shoe and another slid over the shutter dial. The hot shoe piece is missing and I was wondering if anyone knew if I could just slide the other piece off of the shutter dial without doing any damage.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated and I can add a photo if necessary.
Thanks, Ron

You should be able to remove it from the shutter speed dial no problem. The most common way to do damage with that dial is to change shutter speeds before advancing the film. Even if you don't have film in the camera I would advance before removing it just in case you do accidentally move the shutter speed dial.
