Interesting, a U.S. E. Leitz version of the SOOPD. This must be early post-war vintage. The silver exterior is also unusual.

The clamping SOOPD is the only one that works with the early plain front rim and v-grooved front rim Summitar (SOORE, 1939 - 1953). The spring-loaded SOOPD's only work with the later flat-grooved front rim. I added a UV filter on my'39 to create a pseudo v-groove for the spring-loaded version, but it still falls off if bumped so I use an IROOA which grips better. LOL. Would be nice to have a clamping version though.

Last chance to get this before it goes off to a well-known buyer of rare & quality photographic items!
