Leica IF, madness, or?

L and T`s, yes, good cameras, but as Ko.Fe say, where and who does service?
That is why I am looking at a Leica screw mount. Also, the fact that IF I am not happy with it, I can sell it.
Regarding flash sync or not. Well, it is not important for what I will use the camera for.
From what I have read, the older models, like standard chrome is not made of one solid pice and also a lot weaker in the front, if used with longer, 80mm+?, lenses.
If these is an issue for a amateur with limited use or not, I do not know.
Limited use, I mean not daily and for sure much use with a 80+ lense.

As I understand it, the chassis design changed with the "c" series, so a Ic or a If (or a Ig, for that matter) should be similarly structurally rigid. For your planned use, however, I can't imagine it would be an issue. The only RF lens I have that I consider even remotely heavy is a Nikkor 135/3.5; everything else, including a Leitz 90/4 and a Canon 100/3.5, weigh next to nothing, and if you're planning on long lenses, a I-series is not a good fit.

Don't overthink it - decide on a direction, find a camera that suits your intent, and go for it.

I like that, go for it. I will. A I series is on its way.
Maybe a III series will join to. These cameras are some of the best looking cameras made, well to me they are.
Now I "just" need a 35mm lense and a VF.

Classic LTM Summaron 35 3.5 would be good match. It is small and beateful, with classic Leica rendering.

In addition to the Summaron, there's quite a few other options. The Elmar 35/3.5 is uncommon and older, but nice if you like the low-contrast uncoated look. The prices on Canon LTM stuff are quite low right now, and the early chrome 35s are tiny; the 3.5 and 3.2 are good and cheap, and the 2.8 is very good indeed. Nikon made some LTM 35s as well, though they tend to be fairly costly. My favorite, however, is the Sankyo Kyoei-made 35/3.5; this came under several brand names: Acall, Komura, Telesar, and a few others. I absolutely love the rendering.
