I can't stand manual focusing through an EVF. Even with focusing highlights.

This camera looks like a joke to me at first glance. If you're going to get a digital body with an EVF, there's certainly better choices than this. Buy a full frame Nikon, Canon, Sony etc, get an adapter and you're good to go. I figure Leica is testing the market. I suspect that a camera like the Fuji X-Pro3 will be possible, I suspect that keeping the rangefinder and adding a nice evf is certainly possible, lots of $$$$

Leica photographers will love to take pictures of it to share on the social media page, though. It will be great for that.

They're barking up the wrong tree. It's not the first time Leica has made a major marketing mistake.

Well they'll sell a thousand to collectors. Someone should make a sticker that looks like a viewfinder so people wouldn't make fun of you 🤣

It's fine just not at all for me. I hope it's OK for Leica.

Well if they can sell and make money it's good for them. They seemed to sell the Q series camera well so I guess they can sell the M EV-x OK. Leica just couldn't sell SLR well. They had the R then the S2 both were not sucessful.

I rather like mine. I realized yesterday that it's my ninth M camera (if I include the Leica CL), and the first where I can see an entire 28mm frame without wearing contact lenses or guessing with an outboard finder. It's lighter than an M4. My 21 and 90mm lenses are finally comfortable to use.

I know, I know, it's not a real Leica, just like the M5 and those Canadian and Portuguese fakes....

It's fine. I would rather have a mirrorless body capable of autofocus with an adapter for M lenses.

I just don't like an EVF. I have a M11, bought the auxiliary EVF for that. Works fine, I never use it.

I went to Leica to see and test it. It is nice, but somehow it seems that the product managers of Leica have lost their direction somewhat. I have seen online discussion about how this and the Q series overlap, not in a good way.

But other than that, the camera itself is really nice.

And the Minoltas in a frock (I happen to own a couple).

Or the R8/9.

Or the Panasonic intruders (just bought one).

Even the M6 is not a really-real Leica because of the steel cogs and wheels which are not as organic and analogue as the ones in the M3.

Question: Do the people at Leica actually know that they make products which are not really Leica products?
