Thank you that helps. Not much real estate to attach a third lug.

Amazingly, no one has screamed at the though of altering a Leica Range finder, yet.

The Mr. Zhou half case looks great to me but can it come with a extra L ng strap for cross torso street shooting?

Eli,.....Leica did in fact add a 3rd lug on later production M5s. The Mr Zhou case is the one that is not well attached to the camera. It's $66 plus shipping and tax on Ebay and comes without a strap. The TP case attaches with the hollow tripod screw..is $38 plus shipping & tax. That's the one i have & would sell..... photo in post #7

Imaging all of the carrying configuration if one does not have the camera is difficult. How about posting the strap configurations and carrying configurations, please?

you can kinda see in this shot from the manual -- the strap goes through two lugs, one on the camera body's top, near the viewfinder, and one on the bottom of the camera. When carried the camera hangs down vertically.
When you open the camera to change film the bottom comes completely off. The strap keeps it from falling onto the ground, which is nice because some of us are clumsy.
