Leica bought Westlicht auction house

They bought 75% of the company holding two Leica stores and that auction house.

I got no idea what that means or whether this is of importance. But buying an action house where ones cameras play a major part seems interesting.

I guess there might be some connections between Leicashop, Westlicht auctions, Lomography and Leica then ... Someone is laughing all the way to the bank at the moment, anyways.

You mean the investers behind Leica might have invested in Lomography too?

I did not even thought that far. Leica by controlling those Leice shops keep profits on house, and further have control on a tiny bit of their brand standing.



By controlling WestLicht they again profit from the used (or often not used) camera market. But more important they even got more controll on their brand perception by those auctions.

In my eyes though that control by Leica reduces the credibility of Westlicht, with a dominant owner having interest in the kind and result of auctions.

I never cared for Leica cameras, but their enlargers are another story.
