hi there

i know our yashica t4 will go eventually, and we are looking for something to take its place (when it takes the dirt-nap .... )

i came across a leica af-c1 today in the latest keh catalog. it looks like a pretty nice camera, no zoom, but a pair of fixed focal lengths - 40 / 80. does anyone have one of these camera, and if so - what do you think of it?

how are the optics? any good?
at first i thought 70-80$, it might be one of those " you get what you pay for ..." but then again it says leica on it

thanks!

I just bought one and already ran a roll of film through it. I will get the negs back tomorrow and will see how it does.
It handles really well, locks focus instantaneously, focus lock is also AE lock, you can manually turn on or off the flash if the autoflash does not agree with you.

It's the twin of the Minolta AF Tele Super, but I'm not sure if the lens is the same. The Leica is a 40/80, while the Minolta is a 38/80. Which is kinda weird as the long lens is due to a 2X teleconverter. 2 times 38 does not make 80...

Sure this reply is 15 years later, but no-one else stepped up!

Got my film back. AF is fast and accurate. Lens is sharper at the 40mm setting, the 80mm teleconverter setting is a bit softer but still useable.

Leica AF-C1, Fuji C200
