This is the first version of Leica's 90mm F/2.8 Elmarit, made in Wetzlar in 1959 at the tail end of the screw-mount production run.
The outside is remarkably clean, with just a few small bright marks.
The leather trim is completely intact.
Focus is smooth and well damped.
Aperture ring detents are well defined.
Diaphragm blades show some oil, but move easily and positively.
Lens coating is good.
Glass has dust inside and what appears to be a very tiny amount of balsam (near the edge at one o'clock). See photos.
Test shots taken on a Leica SL are excellent.
This lens will not pass the dreaded "flashlight test", but will deliver excellent photos.
I'm selling this lens at a reduced price, factoring in a possible CLA expense at the buyer's end.
