Bought this a year ago, and used it lightly. I've never had a secondhand lens in such great condition before, and suspected when I first got it that it may have been old stock. The box is original (serial matches - although handwritten, but it looks like pretty old ink!), and the hood and caps are included. Glass looks great under flashlight - minimal dust, which may be on the outside, but I am not a fan of scrubbing lens surfaces for a little dust. The only external wear is some discoloration of the white paint on the DOF scale. It looks slightly red. This may be a naturally occurring thing, and not related to use. My old Summilux years ago had the same thing. There is a small nick on the edge of the lens cap.

This version is from a short run of early version III Summicrons that does not have the filter thread, and retains the aperture ring post from version II. The hood is same one used on the 35 'lux, and takes series-something-or-other filters.

I've shot with it sparingly (preferring my 21 or 50, usually), but it is a STUNNING performer. Definitely the best lens I own, but I need a 28 right now. My eye just wants wider.

It hurts to sell this. Really.

Price is $1700, and you pay for PayPal. I think this is a fair price based on the condition.

Shipping price is for continental US via UPS. International will be $30.

Any questions, please ask!

Corrections (sort of):

This version is in the ambiguous gray zone between V2 and V3. It does not have the filter thread (filters go in the hood, as with the Summilux), and retains the aperture ring tab of version II. The front element is not as recessed as in the typical V2s, and matches what is commonly found on a V3.

There are no consistent serial cross-references for this lens, as it looks there was no real sharp distinction between the late V2s and early V3s. That's what I gather from researching this online (Leica Lens Compendium lists this a V3, some other serial xrefs as a V2).

Dropping to $1500 (net to me), but that's the final price. I would just keep it otherwise.
