Leica 28 F/2.8 Elmarit-M ASPH - lens hood fitting?

My "new to me" second-hand lens arrived earlier today, and I fairly quickly I discovered that the lens hood only fits one way on my lens, and that is with the "LEICA" label underneath. Several attempts to get the name on top failed, so I measured the top and bottom tabs width. They're different by 0.05mm - and they're such a good fit, they only fit one way. I've found photos on the web where the lens hood is shown with the LEICA name on top, but have no idea if that's the only way that hood fits that lens!

Weird...

Assuming it's bayonet you can try a piece of tape on the inside of the ear with the larger spacing.

Take it to a shop and have it engraved on the top side. Put some white paint on the engraving, wipe off excess and let dry.
