I was looking at a roll of Superia I had just taken out of my camera, and I realized I didn't know what everything referred to on the canister?

Here's a file photo

Anyone know what the "CH" in "CH135" refers to, or the "F" after the "DX"?

Looks like the CN-16 is Fuji's reference # for their version of the C-41 process.

The usual term for this is Cassette

Canister is the term for the protective casing a cassette is sold in.

I was debating while posting if I was using the correct wording. Thanks!

That CH is kind of suffix to the film name (Fuji Superia Extra-400 CH).
Fuji has several of these C.. suffixes.

It could be that it is less a suffix than a stand-in.

Cx denotes speed. CA is 200, CH is 400 and CZ is 800. I'm going to assume that C would be for Color but Acros doesn't have Bx135 on the cassette. The DXf (Fuji) and DXn (Kodak) denote edge coding on the film itself for automatic scanners to read. I could be mistaken on the Cx suffixes but it seems logical.

I just checked with some old Fuji datasheets:
They used for negative films and some reversal film

100 A and S

160 C and S and L

200 M

400 H

800 Z

1600 U

Thus it all is more complex and not stringent.

OF Dr. Google turned up this old thread - I was wondering what is involved with the DXf system. is their any handy dandy date sheet explaining it. I have noticed a few rolls of Fuji colour have bar codes on Both edges of the film. I assume that is from the DXf but as we all know Fuji does not always tell us clearly
