Hello All,

I shot a roll of Legacy Pro 100 today and shot about half the roll using a 500mm lens and the other half of the roll was shot with the same lens but using a 2x converter. I shot the roll at an ASA of 400 rather than 100 because although I've never tried pushing film before, I know that pushing film increases the contrast. I figured since the scenes that I was shooting were so flat (hard to get varying tones at 1000mm), an increase in contrast would be nice. However, I'm now not sure what developer to develop in, D-76 or HC-110 Dilution B. I don't have access to any other developers since I'm a student. I am also not sure of how much time to add when pushing by two stops. A book I have says 100% increase but other stuff I've read contradicts that. I'm going to develop tomorrow so don't know if I'll get any responses by then, but any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Dont waste your HC 110 for this film. I searched google for you and found flickr discussions about that film. Comparison done by Acros and there is immense difference. If you want to buy cheap film but Kodak
quality , search google for 5222 Kodak BW Negative Movie fillm short cut. It comes 50 cent per roll.
If you match everything together , it is super.
What is your 500 , 1000 mm lenses ?

Well it's not my HC 110, it's the lab at schools HC 110. I'm allowed to use however much of either developer I want. Thanks for the tip on the cheap film, I'll have to check that out. The lens is a Minolta RF Rokkor-X 500mm f/8 mirror lens, and the converter is a Vivitar MC TeleConvertor 2x.

Check out the Massive Development Chart, at least for a starting point. It's basically Plus-X, so developers won't be hard to match with it, even for a push.

And with respect to Umut, it doesn't get much easier or cheaper than Arista films...oddballs like 5222 Whatever may work fine but who's ever heard of the stuff? Can't see that being as convenient to come by as Kodak, Arista, etc. Cheap don't mean much if you can't find it.

The film is Fuji Acros, so you can use times for that at 400. HC-110 or D-76 will work fine. The normal time for HC-110 dil. B is 4-1/2 minutes at EI 80; I'd try 9 or 10 minutes.

In the future, you don't need to underexpose two stops to add contrast in flat light. It can make things muddy, even with the push. You can simply shoot normally, or under one stop, and then overdevelop.

Thanks for the tip on that. Haven't been shooting film that long so I'm not too familiar with the methods on pushing and pulling or overdeveloping to add contrast. I think I'm going to end up using HC-100 dilution B for 9 minutes and see how it turns out.

I tried doing a search for that Kodak 5222 film and found information on it but couldn't find ANYWHERE to purchase any.

Aaron ;

Contact with this seller , he sells 200 foot film for 30 dollar. and 20 dollars postage fee to Istanbul.
5222 have no antireflection coating and you can process like other films.
He has got other movie films with carbon antireflection coating and you can find the thread that others is dealing with a movie film lab to handle their films.

Short end is the correct word.
Double X is really great Kodak film .
