Yikes!

I left a brand new box of Ilford MGIV RC Pearl paper out in the sun for about 2-3 hours. I bought the box, placed it next to my closet for storage and left the room for a few hours. When I got back, the darn sun was shining ONLY on the pack of paper through the window.

How durable is this type of paper? It's a box of 100, so I really hope I did not do too much damage to it. Also, this is my first time buying photo paper, but is it best to refrigerate paper as well? Store in the fridge and let it warm up to room temp before using?

I am a fool!

Good Evening, Jason,

While it is certainly not recommended procedure to subject packaged paper to direct sunlight, the time involved probably won't make any great difference. Refrigerating paper is not usually necessary, unless you expect to print rarely and plan to be using the same box of paper for years. Remember that Ilford uses a white box, so the paper probably didn't get as hot as it would have in a darker container. Just consider the incident a good reminder to be more careful in the future.

Dear Jason,

It is highly unlikely that the paper was damaged. BTW: 100 sheets will go by before you know it.

Well... on the plus side, perhaps you have inadvertently converted it into MGIV Warmtone?

Sorry - couldn't stop myself...

Like everyone else, I'm sure it will be fine; it probably gets that hot in the delivery vans in summer, and for a longer time.

Have fun, Bob.

Thanks for the reassurance guys

Can't wait to try making my first prints. I wasn't able to find an enlarger local to me yet (for a decent price at least), so I will be using my university's darkroom for the time being. This was my last resort, as the lab is run by students and they don't keep it too tidy. I'll make do with what I have though!
