Anyone use Led panel? Shoe mounted for macro. I understand that since the f stop needs to be high this may be unfeasible.

I use one but only for front fill. I just tried with a ~6x9" AA powered light box. ISO 100 =1/60 @ f32, white surface. The distance was about 7" from the front of the lens with a 60/2.8 Nikkor
I noticed severe hot spot/fall-off & would think that the shoe mount would be similar.
I had the LB sitting on a flat edge next to the area I was metering.
