What ho one and all,

Plan to do a bit of remedial work on a couple of 35mm cameras; have the tools but uncertain what is the advisable adhesive for re-attaching the leatherette.

Philobond is mentioned frequently, but not available in the UK. The wonderful Youtube videos (Vintage Resurrections) uses leather weld (https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/28556347...334151149743&abcId=9371139&merchantid=6995734) contact adhesive but it seems quite expensive.

So I am wondering about Copydex (https://www.amazon.co.uk/Copydex-Bo...ocphy=9216706&hvtargid=pla-2281435177578&th=1) which I have used in the past but not for leatherette on two, non-porous surfaces.

Any experience or best leatherette adhesive suggestions most welcome. Don't really fancy the normal heavy duty contact adhesives.

Thanks

I've used this T-7000 stuff and it also works to repair small holes in bellows. Flexible, black, pinpoint applicator, doesn't dry in/around its tube.

I have had Copydex leave a stain through white cardboard, leaving a brown stain.
That was after about five years though.

Thanks for the thoughts. Don't image that Copydex could leave a stain through leatherette but will it stick better or worse than a normal contact adhesive? I think Copydex is latex based.

Never really liked EvoStick as it is sooo stringy but that is probably the way to go. Will investigate the contact that has always been at the top of my list, but used to only be available in largish tins; that is Thixofix.

I have a much loved and almost fully working Nikomat FTN and the self timer is doing something strange. To remove it, I need to detach the leatherette, so looking for the ideal adhesive to re-attach.

Also bought a Pentax S1a as a learning experience and stupidly, removed one piece of leatherette when it is not necessary to do so. It is in good condition but has lost all plastiscer and will not adhere with double sided tape. So need something stronger to overcome the annoying 'curve.'
