I made my Photrio introduction some years ago, but have been quiet since then. I've always had an interest in vintage photography, and have a modest collection of glass plates that feature canoes and canoeing scenes, and another collection of photos by local Thousand Islands photographer A. C. MacIntyre (active 1870s-19teens or so). The last few days, I have been going down the inter-web's rabbit holes of wet and dry plate tin and glass photography. I have a few questions I hope some of you may be able to help me with.
First, I have a ca 1899 Rochester Optical REKO model camera in reasonable condition. Are there any resources that would teach me how to use this camera specifically? It is a rising lens board and swiveling back. The ground glass is on a hinged panel - does the plate get sandwiched in there? Any pointers would be welcome!
Secondly, and more broadly, are there any resources (print or otherwise) that focus on these types of cameras? I'm interested in doing a deeper dive into learning about collecting and using them, and everything I have found has either been superficial or only includes a few examples. Again, any pointers greatly appreciated.
