I have an old RZ67 645 film back that apparently leaks light. I suspect it's the hinge side where light-blocking foam (about 3/8 wide) is almost gone. Both of my 6x7 backs produce good negatives.
Can anyone recommend a place to buy replacement sealing material or affordable service center? Mamiya site is listing average magazine repair fee around $200. This was an unfortunate *bay $50 purchase so obviously Mamiya service is not an option. Thank you.

I had a similar problem when I first bought my RB. It was easily solved by visiting the website of US Camera (uscamera.com). They offer a variety of repair kits including Mamiya. I think mine cost about $30 for my RB and C33. After I attached the seals--no more light leaks. It's a pretty easy job. Good Luck!

Contact Jon Goodman through his eBay identity - interslice.

He will advise whether he has a kit for you, at a reasonable cost.

No connection, satisfied customer, etc.

Do as I say...not as I do.

Dear Ignac: Here is what I did when I got my RB67 Pro S. I went to Wal-Mart and bought a pad of felt for about $1.00. I cut it in fine strips of about 2mm wide. I then took some rubber cement and dripped a string of it in the cracks of the door and any place else you are to put the foam. If it was too tight, I took out a little. Eventually I got a great seal and have run several rolls of film through the camera with no problems. NOW...I'm telling you what I did, but I'm cheap. People on here will tell you not to do that and you should listen to them. I just don't like digging a bunch of gooey foam out of my camera. I'm not responsible for anything you do, but I also bought a second RB67 and ended up doing the same dumb thing. Ric.

I won't argue with felt - as a camera technician I've used it in the past...

have a search on ebay - there is a mob in the US that supply 2mm sheets 12x12 inches for around $12 plus about $5 in postage...

It could also be the seal on the light trap - remove the darkslide, and hold the back up to the light looking through where the dark slide came out off - you shouldn't be able to see light through it (you can hold something above the light trap to make it a bit easier to see)

If you can see light you will need to replace the light trap seal...this is a part you will need to get from Mamiya
