It's the same questionable logic everywhere these days.

From the article: "Eastman Kodak had been a part of the Windsor community for more than 45 years until April 2013, when it announced it would be selling the Windsor division to its largest creditor, U.K. Kodak Pension Plan (KPP), which eventually created Kodak Alaris."

So it seems that past employees collecting pensions are laying off current employees so they save their company and their pensions. Ironic, isn't it?

What's amazing is that the plant is down 90% in head count from its hey day but still it has not reached a sustainable level. Good lord.....

Alan, that is not quite true. The US and England have different laws. In the US, some pensions and all benefits were stopped for retirees. In England they were not and apparently they were underfunded. And so, the sale.

As far as Windsor, look at the bottom of the sign! Kodak sold the entire facility to Carestream to make medical X ray film and other products. Kodak leases coating time for wide 72" Endura coating there. This paper is only coated as needed. The other functions of the plant are described in the article.

So, in the US, we retirees lost a lot! Those in England will not and thus the Alaris operation is run by the pension plan of the Harrow plant.

It is generally known that the owner of Kodak Alaris is the pension plan of the british Kodak retirees. Refering to british retirees Alan is right in what he says.

Furthermore part of the Windsor plant has indeed been bought last year by the Kodak Pension Plan and as such now makers part of Kodak Alaris.

I am merely pointing out that the bulk of the retirees (which come from the US) are the ones that were "hit" the most by this change and also are the ones that have little impact on much that is said about Kodak and Alaris. After all, the English plan was the biggest debtor, as stated in the article.
