Hi

I have some Prints that I would like to tone lavender
(they are of a field of lavender)

dose anybody know of a suitable toner I could use or a suitable recipe ?

Thanks

robin

have you tried colorvir? with those toner/ dye kits you can do it. Otherwise you could hand color with oils?

You could try to boil fresh lavender in water for several hours, filter the substance and use it as a toner. I haven't tried this myself yet, so I don't know quantities, times, etc.
But is doable. Like with red onions or a lot of other plants.

The whole print, or selected areas ?

For subtle colouring of selected areas, I'd suggest hand tinting with translucent paint or dye. For overall toning, a combination of iron blue and perhaps gold, maybe over the top of a lith print depending on how wild you want the colours.

Old trick is to use elmers glue on the print where you do not want tone, tone the print, then rub off the elmers glue and wash.

first year assignment at the school I went too.

Do you guys have a product over there known as Frisket Masking film or fluid?

I didn't know you could use Elmers, but it sounds good. We used to use rubber cement.

I distinctly remember elmers glue, but hey that was 39 years ago, time flys.
