Saw a great exhibition today by New Zealand photographer Laurence Aberhart. Wish I'd heard about it earlier as it closes this Saturday (27th Feb). They are B&W contact prints from 8x10 negs, (he uses an old Korona). He's been photographing around NZ since the '70s, I'd describe him as somewhat reminiscent of Walker Evans but certainly not derivative. I was very impressed by his images & the print quality. Some are printing out paper, gold toned & the rest are silver gelatin. He makes the point that all the papers he was printing this show on are now extinct. I think the silver paper was Forte. The photos were taken between the 1980s & a few years ago but are all recent prints I believe.

It's at the Darren Knight gallery
840 Elizabeth Street, Waterloo
