My freezer is cool. I don't aspire to be cool. If I were steve mcqueen, it'd be about cars and guns, not cool.

Format coolth is directly proportional to the length of the diagonal.

Formats aren't cool, but some cameras are.

Well as it is a serious thread, I'll say that in my opinion most film camera's have their own "coolnes" like humans, H.P. Lovecraft, Edgar Allan Poe, Emily Dickinson, etc. or, the human's that created them. I love using my current system, a medium format, the Pentacon Six TL, and to me it is seriously cool, its beast! It is sturdy looking, yet fits my hands, it has all the basics to get the job done, plus its 6X6, not that's cool! I'll over use the word cool and explain that my previuos system;'s were fully fuction and seriously cool, my Mamiya RB67 Pro S, a brick, but another proven work horse, and coupled with a Polaroid back, it got the job done in all its 6X7 glory. My Rollei 6008 Pro was killer as well, it was black, with chrome highlights, and had newer amenities, like a built in meter, and more for that 6X6 square goodness! As far as larger format's go, I like this GRAFLEX 4X5 I have seen lately that doesn't bust the bal,er, bank account, and it looks like a real killer system! any 8x10 should suffice and small, well Leica is your man, if you mean 35mm? most importantly, happy photography!

Done. Small and cool is my Holga, big and cool, my RZ67! My large format cameras are too cumbersome to be cool. At least, I can't really look very cool using them. Not that the Holga or the RZ help in that department...

Smallest, the Minox Ec. The largest, the Manarchy 16ft x 24ft view camera.

There was a german 9.5mm camera in the 90's even smaller than a Minox EC. It could worn at ones wrist like a watch.

(The EC is one of the most neat designs, totally underrated.)

I've noticed that the other post still exist, so, one you are an anti person, and decide to ignore it in favor of it, which means, you ignore my rights?

I enjoy in discussions on APUG that are not serious, and I enjoy also when we split hair over some unimportant thing - all is part of fun .

For me cool formats are square format 24x24 on 35mm - like from robot camera, also cool is panorama format from Xpan and some medium format cameras. From big formats: all bigger than 4x5 is cool by default.

Cars are cool, so are guns, to each their own. We all have rights don't we? This was a question regarding camera's and their abilities, so, why in the world do you decide to add your rhetoric? You have rights, I have rights, correct? As I said, guns are cool, as are car's, maybe not to you, maybe not to he, however, to a few folks out there. just saying

Man Jnan, your threads are like lightning rods

I've got a little camera. It's a tuna can pinhole camera, painted black, with a little strip of photo paper in it. It's sitting in a cool place at the beach right now, sunbathing and checking out the waves and sunsets. Sometime I'll decide to go over there and collect it to see what it's seen.

It's very analog, but I use di91ta! inversion and an electronic photon sampling device, so I won't share the results here.... hmm maybe I'll make an account at that other PUG just for these....hmm.

Edit: DPUG account made... I'll post the solargraph over there when I collect the tuna can, maybe tomorrow, maybe next weekend. It seems sort of quiet over there on the D side of PUG.

As far as being a chick-magnet defining cool, the largest I would recommend is a rolleiflex, which is ultra-cool because when you carry one around chicks dig you.

It is ALMOST as cool as a demonstrated ability to hold a baby properly. Take it from one who knows... ;-)

There's no rhetoric and you are missing the cultural context. Steve Mcqueen was called the "King of Cool" and starred in cowboy movies, raced, cars, and was probably irresistable to women. e.g. http://silodrome.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/05/ma1.jpg I am mostly unconcerned with people's pronouncement of what's cool when it comes to my stuff and activities. i'm not a follower or leader when it comes to cool.

But in my faulty guestimation of what's cool, TLRs with chrome (like a Rolleiflex) are pretty high up the list. A few people think Holgas are cool, but they are probably looked down on my most film and DSLR users. Speeds graphics I like, but they are looked down on my most LF users due to their limited movements. So except for a rolleiflex, I like unappreciated cameras.

Steve McQueen was called the "King of Cool"...

He lied through his teeth to "Max" and Stratwitch, but refused to do the same to von Luger, instead directly handing over the cutters and looking him straight in the eye while answering "I was trying to cut my way through your wire because I want to get out", thus according him his backhanded respect as he simultaneously demanded the same in return.

Now that's cool...

Folks, for whatever reason, this thread is generating too many reports and taking too much moderation time.

It is not the job of the moderators to police personality conflicts or political disputes, which don't belong on APUG in the first place. We're all volunteers here, and have enough to worry about just keeping up with the spam.

Please post off-topic banter and joke threads in the off-topic areas.

If you have a question about this, feel free to send a PM, but do not start a new thread about moderation policy.
