Hi all,

Just saw this photo in a publication of the Image Permanence Institute:

It sure gives you the creeps looking at it...:cry:

I guess this is old style acetate based film, as that is well known for its deterioration with time. The current polyester base of modern LF films is less vulnerable, not to talk about historic and current use of glass or paper negatives, that will never look like this.

Sort of reminds me of the time I was doing a carbon printing demo for a university class. The carbon tissue and negative got too hot under the UV lights and stuck together.

I gave a good pull to separate them and tore the 11x14 negative in half.
 
triacetate is more stable though.. a lot of films are using triacetate as a base still.
 
But it might not sit flat in the enlarger. :whistling:
