Hi there, I really enjoy reading Apug and have been wanting to join the large format forum in the UK where I am based for some time now. I registered a month and a half ago but my account still remains to be activated. Does anyone here have experience of this forum? Maybe they are not accepting new members at the moment? Perhaps my email address doesn't meet their criteria? I would really like to join but am mystified by how difficult it is. Does anyone have any advice? My emails to them get no response.

Any feedback gratefully received

You're better using the US based International Large Format Photography Forum or here -APUG, that's where you'll find the largest number of UK based LF users.

The UK Forum has almost died a death, it has vey few new posts aside from the Sales sub forum, the site administrator has no interest in updating the Website hence pages for events in 2007/8.

Welcome to APUG

Thanks very much for your reply Ian.
What a shame about the UK forum! Amongst other things I was particularly wanting to use the classifieds because everything is relatively local. I'm trying to get together a field camera and I noticed your post on the camera fair in Wolverhampton; how is it on LF gear?

There's sometimes very reasonable LF gear at Wolverhampton, the next fair is 9th December. I picked up a mint 203mm f7.7 Ektar for just under £7 in the Spring, darkslides at £1-£2 each on more than one occasion.

Actually LF gear is far cheaper in the US, I've bought quite a number of items from this Forum or the US LF forum, also Ebay - it's worth searchin the .com site as not everything maps across to the UK portal (logins are identical as there's only ine database.

PM or email (on my Profile) with what you're after, and let me know where you're based.

I assume this is the site you refer to. I had joined a long time ago now and worked with a group of folks there in the early days trying to save the access outside of Japan with the Velvia 50 in QL's and later even in cut sheets. It was Stef Dunn at the time from Australia who I was working with on the original petition. There were others involved, Tim Parkins was also one as I recall.
The site just seemed to struggle after one of the main charter members left. I also just faded from there over time.
