Large Format Book Recommendation

I would appreciate getting recommendations for a book or other resource (i.e. CD, DVD, etc) that provides a thorough presentation on view camera movements - i.e. Scheimpflug, Perspective Control, Understanding Depth of Field, etc.

The only hard copy title on the subject I personally have so far is Ansel Adams' The Camera.

Purchased in part for its historical significance to the field more so than the contents itself. [And because it seemed weird to not have it along side copies of The Negative and The Print, which seem like far more useful texts.]

Felt it did a fair job compared to online sources I've read, but how does it compare to more modern texts covering the subject?

"Using the View Camera" by Simmons is a great place to start.
Stroebel's "View Camera Technique" is extremely comprehensive and appears to be a course textbook. If you really want to get deep in the weeds, this book is probably the one to get.

I agree and probably at the public library.

There is a mid 80s book by Kodak that is excellent too. It is called Photography with Large-Format Cameras. I bought mine on e-bay for $20.

Agreed. Excellent book.

+1 here, this is the book that summarises the whole matter. The more technical and comprehensive of all, but still not at scientific/universitary paper level.

On the other hand I wouldn't recommend Ansel Adam's books: they're a nice reading about photography in general but the chapters about view camera technique are too shallow for an advanced photographer.

Thanks all for the terrific recommendations. I've ordered both the "Using the View Camera" by Steve Simmons and "View Camera Technique" by Leslie Stroebel from Amazon. I've got some interesting reading and learning ahead of me.

The Simmons book is easy to understand. Take it with you out in the field when you first start out. Pick somewhere private where people won't interrupt you. I started learning the camera movements in my backyard without any film at first.

Another book to consider is "Corrective Photography" by Lewis Kellsey.
My copy is published in 1947 by LF Deardorff & Sons.
It's nicely printed with lots of photos and line drawings.
