Unfortunately in Northern Italy there's a problem with thermal inversion that conjoined with pollution makes the air hazy especially with good weather, the result is that it's difficult to get good days in which you have enough depth of filed to shoot a cityscape that shows the mountains in the background.

Here I was able to see something:

But already after few hours the Alps were lost into the hazy air.

Taken with Nikon F2AS, Granit 11, Portra 160 and a skylight filter, not pp.

I have never found any filter that worked on cutting smog.
